TFP shoot

Instead of sewing I went to an appointment with a photographer that I made three weeks ago before realizing how busy I would be this week with preperations for OM. Another TFT shoot (I love freebies) and this photographer actually gave me all the original files so I could choose which ones he would photoshop, permission to use it wherever I want to and he was really nice to start with.

I always think that when a male photographer does TFT shoots he's probably hoping you want to take your top of. I choose him because he has extensive experience as a photographer (so more 'pro' feeling to the pictures) ad he had a lot of postitive reactions from TFT models.

a lot of pictures )

other remarks made by photographer:
"you look younger in RL "(he estimated me at age 18)
"your face looks broader in pictures" (yep, it does. So I'm not this big headed in RL)
"could you do wild? you're so lady like, you look sweet on most pictures that I made."

Pictures where taking in studio environment with a huge soft lightbox and a Canon EOS didigal camera didn't catch the number), 24-70 lens, camera flash and downloaded on Mac for viewing and burning on cd.

And this is what the black dress looks like. I have a dilemma when it comes to the mesh, please have a look and comment

Work that I did on this costume included replacing the zipper, removing godawful beaded fringe (I've replaced some of it with clusters of beaded fringe, but it isn't done yet), shortening straps, redoing stitching on the upper edge in the back to create slightly more room so there would be less stress on the zipper.

Despite the gothic festival this weekend, I managed to finish the turkish vest yesterday evening. To be honest, most of the bands make music that make me cringe. I'm more of a gothic rock/folk/dead can dance girl then an electro/ebm/dark wave goth. Ataraxia and Gor also opened the festival by a performance in the Dom church, the medieval churchbuilding in the center of Utrecht.

We watched Omnia, Gor (which was a very nice suprise) and Ataraxia (who did something very avantgarde) again on friday evening. Saturday [livejournal.com profile] swas and Gunnar came over. We wanted to picknick in the park, but there was too much rain during the day. That didn't relly matter, we strolled through Utrecht, talked, ate something in the medieval garden next to the Dom (the cathedral). [livejournal.com profile] ikaiya had a three day tocket, but I decided that the line up wasn't that good to spend another 30 euro's on it. Besides, it was sold out (or so they say).

[livejournal.com profile] swas also showed me the performance that I did on her wedding on utube (private view, so no, you can't see it!) and I think it is acceptable to put online. Not a ' OMG, what a fabulous dancer!' clip, but it shows my dancestyle. A lot of things have improved, but I'm still not satisfied with my arms. To flappy at times.

If I manage to figure out how to put it on youtube without getting the big chunky sqaures instead of the original high quality movie, I'll put it on my website.

I'm halfway through this project. It really isn't that much work, but it's important that it fits well, so it's taking longer then expected.

Today was my day off (I worked saturday) and despite not working out I did a lot of useful things. Like tweaking my website further, finally putting stuff for sale on the Dutch auction site, making two brocade panels for a costume idea that i had in my mind for ages and drawing a pattern for a turkish vest.

Turkish vests are cute. Maybe with a c-cup or more, it's more on the sexy side then cute, but I find them nice anyway. Since there are very little tribal dancers over here, the turkish vest is an item that is rarely worn. So finding a pattern is out of the question, I'm modifying a dance top pattern that has been lying around. Let's hope that it'll work.

if everything works out, picture update will be wednesday. I hope to finish this outfit for castlefest, which is next sunday. phew.

I'va been very busy with costuming the last few days. I made 5 veils (retty fast and easy) and a mermaid skirt from heavy forest green velvet. I had this fabric since the start of december, but was a bit afraid of starting this project.

I made a mermaid skirt out of it, with two front slits. The waist/hip is reinforced with cotton fabric so it doesn't stretch, and I made it assymetrical with a light dip on the right hip. I'll post pictures later to make things clearer. It turned out well, even the zipper in the back. I'm free-wheeling on the beading pattern right now, I put the skirt flat on the ground and am working with a white thread creating a nice pattern with curls. Hey, it doesn't have to be symmetrical, why not go loose when it comes to beading too?

I'm going to use gold beading, perhaps some rhinestones inbetween. I want the complete edge of the skirt covered in beading. Ambitious? yes. Impossible? no.

I'll muse over the bra later, I want it to be a strapless bra (like the one Jillina wears in one of er instruction dvd's, the brown bra) with a strap running from the middel of the bra to the back. So not completely strapless, but the bra should provide all the support by itself.

I also transformed a bodystocking from the second hand store into a bellydance practice top. Cut of the lower part, sewed a casing on the bottom and added elastic. Easy does it!
