The older I get, the more I enjoy the days that I don't have to go to work and get to pootle around the house. Easter weekend started on Thursday with my first bellydance veening at Parnassos. It was great! About 35 people showed up for the free workshop, and we had four performances which was nice. It was short and sweet and everyone left with smiles on their faces. I did a tribute to Ada in the black and multicolor costume to Leylet Hob. It felt good.

Unfortunately I drove the car into a lamp post when I was making a maneuvre, it now has a tiny dent and some scratches in the middle back. I am not as upset about this as I would have been a couple of years ago. It's just a car, albeit a nice car at that.

On Friday we were both knackered and we did our cleaning routine together. It's fun: we both start in different parts of the house and work through the chores until it is done and we can sit down together, congratulating each other on a job well done. It sure beats cleaning all by myself! Jan, Mirelle and her son Kelvin visited us and we made a couple of snacks. It made me feel all metropolitain, putting tiny mozzarella on a stick with a tiny tomato and a basilicum leave. We talked and Jan had happy news: his ex wife lost the last court appeal (she has been at it for almost three years now and won't let go). Jan doesn't have to pay a ridiculous amount of alimony (she asked for 1000 euros per month, while she has her own job plus alimony from the father of her kids) and she has to cooperate in selling their house so the money (or more likely the resulting debt) can be divided and over with. We celebrated with bubbles.

Saturday we went to The Hague where Maarten and Mandy were having a party. We brought Noushka who behaved really well among the noise, smells and people. She is getting bigger and more mature in her bahavior, for example not being as anxious or inclined to misschief. Afterwards we visited his mom and his nephew and his wife came over (I am quite fond of them) to catch up. They came baring gifts, in this case 54 seeds for the vegetable/herb garden. I took the brocolli seedlings outside and planted the climbing plants I've been nourishing, and the lollo rosso is doing great.

Sunday was Easter. I had to decline two birthday invitations because we were going to have brunch with my mom and Little Brother. Since when do people plan birthdays on major holidays anyway? Or is Easter no longer considered a holiday by most? My mom gave us a wooden barrel for catching rain water and she had some planks lying around that we could use for the garden. She is going to Israel on a couple of weeks which is very exciting. Mom and Little Brother also got into an argument because Little Brother moved his birthday celebration and didn't tell mom, and she just booked her boat tickets and accomodation in Scotland for the summer. It's one of those arguments that he'll has to relive for the next thirty years, be annoyed about and then sad when mom is no longer around.

we had big plans for the second day of Easter but the weather was dreary and dreadful. Instead we stayed in and watched Song of the sea', a cute Irish animation movie about the Selkie. I highly recommend it, beautiful and lovingly made. Other then all the visits I took quite a lot of naps and ate all the things. I am recharged and ready for this week of work!
