Drivers license
Jun. 12th, 2018 12:45 pmI went to a meeting at the Ministry last week and upon identification the lady at the desk informed me that my drivers license was expired. Okay.
Good news: it's been over ten years ago that I aced the exam! I remember the anxiety and how hard and complicated driving was for me when I was learning to drive. Now for the bad news.
We have a lot of digitized services because it makes it easier and faster to help people. The first thing I did was look up online how I could request a new license. Keep in mind that it is illegal to drive with an expired license (the penatly is 90 euro) and you are not insured when your license is expired. So essentially it is wise to not drive until I get a new one.
So how much time does it take to request a new drivers license, get it manifactured and pick it up? My license expired on June 3th. I noticed on June 7th. If I wanted to go to our local town hall, my first appointment option would be on Tuesday the 26th of June. If I go to the town hall in City Center, I could book an appoint ment on Wednesday the 20th.
AND you can't drive to the town hall because that would be illegal, thus making things more complicated. It takes five working days to manufacture the license and another appointment to pick it up. Hopefully I will be licensed to drive again on the 27th of June.
I do have a student recital that I am participating in with Rinske on Sunday the 17th and I have to drive to get there. Let's hope that I don't get pulled over or get involved in an accident. Plus I should be more careful about expiring dates on official documents. the government probably send me an email in the government approved portal that I rarely log into.
