Update on the laminate floor thing
Jun. 13th, 2011 10:14 am This is a big project and as it has been on my mind for years, I'm so happy that it will happen soon! I found someone who is getting rid of her old IKEA laminate and it took some organizing and calling around, but I found three friends to help me disassemble the floor and bring it to Utrecht on Saturday the 25th. I have to pay for gas and maybe hire a bus, but overall it will be a lot cheaper then getting new laminate. That is a good thing, as I can't afford it anyway. My dad offered to help me put the floor in in Monday/Tuesday 27-28th of June and hopefully we can get it done in two days.
What I should mention is that I live in a house built in 1920-something. The original wooden floor planks have MDF nailed on top, but there is no straight angle in my living room and there are a lot of angles/weird corners that we have to somehow work around. I expect that extensive puzzling will be involved and I'm glad that my dad is coming over. He has a lot of experience in putting wooden floors in and can fix almost anything. In the past he fixed a problem with the electric wiring in my house, put a bicycle storage thingy on the hallway ceiling, saved me from rats by making a chicken wire roster underneath my oven and he put cables all through the house so I could enjoy internet upstairs, back in the days when wireless routers where creatures of myth and legend.
I've made a planning, divided the tasks, calculated the cost and allowed room for error. I will probably be offline for the duration of the project between 24-28th of June, but I hope to update with pictures soon afterwards :)
