I'll be damned
Mar. 4th, 2014 10:21 amIn September 2013 I started working one day per week for the Lectorate of Assurance, Risk and Business IT. My list of accomplishments in that area has so far been rather short: I participated in a movie to promote the lectorate, I made seven proposals for a research subject, I planned a workshop on Risk Management that didn't happen because of not enough participants and this Friday I will give a lecture to 60 third year students Accountancy on Assurance in Business IT.
I might have mentioned that I believe my lector is an arrogant prick earlier in this journal. After a dinner with the whole lectorate and friends/family of the lector to celebrate him becoming rector, I rectify this to saying that he is an arrogant prick most of the time, probably because he is compensating for coming from a electrotechnician/farmer background. He is very dominant in his style of talking, one of my allergies.
Every conversation that I had with the man consisted of him talking and telling me I should do something else. I was feeling kind of bad about this and last weekend told Mr.R. that I suck at research and that it would be wise to quit and go back to working my normal workload.
But!!
I received an email from my lector, who has finally read my proposal for an article. He CC-d all the other members, said it was well structured and a good example and told me to continue on this road.
Maybe Academia is not completely wasted on me.
