FaKyMa (our tiny performance troupe consisting of three hot thirty something kick as women who know how to dance) had a second performance yesterday at a home for the elderly in The Hague.

The performance was terrible. The audience loved it, but the organisator never told us that there was a huge pillar in the middle of our dance space. And not one of those willowy, decorative type of pillars that make you feel like draping yourself around it pretending to be a grecian goddess. A concrete, almost a meter wide, hard not to notice kind of pillar. Our carefully choreographed routines went straight out of the window and we winged it on sheer attitude. Also, low hanging lantern alert!! Artifical light, but still. Tonight I have a corporate gig for a Christmas event in Bussum, tomorrow the Stairway in Utrecht and after that I'm going home and bake stuff for my birthday. All that AND working full time during the day, I don't know how long I can keep this up.

After the performance we talked among the four of us (Laudie was there too, she is also the creative director of the Oum Kolthoum Project and the LAT project). I initiated the discussion of evluating 2012 and planning 2013 and we got to some interesting conclusions. I can't share too much right now, but 2013 is going to be a year with Big Things happening for me. The interesting thing is that usually I draft my own plan for 2013, but this time I asked for input from the others. They agreed with the outlines of my plans but Laudie added that I should try to replace ballet with modern dance to regain earthiness (briliant plan. I have contemplated this but didn't think I could do without ballet because of my posture. LIFT THAT RIBCAGE). In dance news, in 2013 I need to focus more on myself instead of the projects that I'm doing with others. Signing up for DreamBootCamp yesterday was my most important action connected to that goal. A whole week of studying with Aziza and focusing on my own dancing, lovely! And being able to share it with so many dance friends frm all over Europe who are also there to learn, it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Going to Canada for DreamCamp would have been awesome but being in Belgium, meeting friends I made throughout the years and sharing this experience with them is super duper extra awesome.

In physical news, due to the cold weather and other activities I cut down on ballet/badminton/horseback riding/running for the past couple of weeks. Meaning that I feel sluggish and uncomfortable in my own skin, if I'm home on time tonight I'll do Khalida's Shimmy dvd but in fact I need to get back into regular running, or yoga, or plyometrics, or something that allows me to bounce around. I just don't feel like myself this month and I hate it..
